These Steak Fajitas are so quick and easy that I’m not even sure it qualifies as a recipe! If you’re short on time but wanting to throw together a healthy meal, add this to your stash of go to recipes. You seriously can not get any easier than these Quick and Easy Steak Fajitas.
These are a go to in our house. I typically have extra tortillas on hand and I have a freezer full of venison so the steak is a quick grab. Onions are a pantry staple so the only thing I need to buy are colored peppers. I typically buy the three pack from Aldi or 6 pack from Costco. If I need a pepper for a recipe, I’ll have some leftover so…Quick and Easy Steak Fajitas gets added to the menu 🙂
The kitchen gadgets I use for this recipe are my pepper corer and while it may not technically be a gadget, my onion container is super cute and useful. I always now where my cut onions are 🙂
My kids like to eat their fajitas with “cream” which in our house means plain greek yogurt. I can’t remember the last time I bought sour cream. If I have avocado on hand, we’ll slice that up. They also like to add shredded cheese on top. I like my plain.
I almost forget to include one of my favorite kitchen accessories (I think I’d classify it as that). This tortilla warmer is amazing! You stick it in the microwave for a few seconds and the tortillas stay warm and ready to eat throughout the course of dinner. It’s also wonderful if you’re making your own tortillas and want to keep them hot and fresh right off the skillet. The directions are printed on the back of the warmer so using it is a no brainer!
Substitutions/Additions for Quick and Easy Steak Fajitas:
- I used venison but you could easily use beef instead
- you can use fajita mix but I rarely have any so I just use taco seasoning
Tips for making Quick and Easy Steak Fajitas:
- I’ve never actually measured out the taco seasoning…I just add a little at a time and taste it as I go and stop once I think it has a good flavor
- the more veggies the better 🙂 I’ve included mushrooms too if I have extra in the fridge
Quick and Easy Steak Fajitas
These could be made without meat or you could sub the steak for chicken.
Ingredients
1 lb steak (I use venison)
2-3 colored bell peppers
1 large sweet onion
taco seasoning (adjust the amount as needed to suit your taste)
tortillas
optional toppings: sour cream, avocado, shredded cheese, salsa
Directions
- Slice up peppers, onions, and steak.
- Using a non stick pan (you can add a tablespoon of oil if you’d prefer), cook the meat until it is slightly browned. Add in the veggies and cook until they start to slightly soften and the meat is cooked through.
- Add some taco seasoning (you could use fajitas seasoning if you have it) and a little water if you pan is drying up.
- Stir and cook for a few minutes to make sure the seasoning is dispersed.
- Serve on a warm tortilla with toppings of your choice.
